The let down by Apple

After today, what was supposed to be the release of the well anticipated iPhone 5, it left a lot of Apple users feeling down. The event was supposed to introduce the iPhone 5. Instead they introduced the iPhone 4s. That is supposed to be a refresh version of the original iPhone 4. Even though the response upon the release of this device was pretty horrific, as Apple fan boys were devastated. Sprint still committed to buy a substantial amount of these iPhones to release on their CDMA network.

One major question that comes from this is will Sprint still be able to offer truly unlimited data packages. Whenever and iPhone hits a carrier it usually changes the atmosphere around the brand. If you look back at previous carriers who have decided to release the device; AT&T and Verizon. The iPhone was using so much data they both eventually phased their plans into a tiered structure. That has seem not to hurt either company but what set Sprint apart from these carriers is that they do have truly unlimited data. That is something no other major carrier in the states has. It definitely gave Sprint what it needed to remain relevant and it pushed more users to their network when they otherwise wouldn’t have come to the company.

It will be interested in seeing what happens with sprint and this device once it is released. Will they hold true to their main marketing strategy or jump ship all because of the infamous iPhone. Although sprint does need a new device to bring in new customer, this might only be a temporary fix for the, when ultimately it could definitely hurt them in the long run. We all will be watching Sprint very closely to see how the carrier will do with the iPhone.

Sounds like an opportunity for smartphones such as the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S2.
